The ratification of the 802.11n standard could be delayed until 2008

The final version of the standard specification 802. 11n, proposed by a consortium of EWC (Enhanced Wireless Consortium), was approved in January of this year. It involves the use of unlicensed in most countries of the frequency bands 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. Bandwidth networks, the standard 802. 11n will theoretically reach 600 Mbit / s. For comparison, the data on wireless networks now being introduced WiMAX standard can be transmitted at speeds of up to 70 Mbit / s.
Equipment that meets the provisional specification 802. 11n, is already producing some manufacturers, in particular, the company Belkin, D-Link, Linksys and Netgear. The second draft of the specification 802. 11n Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) expected to release this fall, while the ratification of the standard has been scheduled for early 2007.
However, as reported ARNnet, because of the huge number of comments and feedback on the first black version of the specification of the second version of its release could be delayed until next year. In addition, experts will address a number of technical issues. Accordingly, the ratified standard is likely to be only in 2008.
